MAY 17, 2013: New York, NY “On the other side of loss... is freedom” - Billy Lord, American Rocker
When Billy Lord lost everything he had ever known… his career, his home, his future... he found something even greater. He found his passion for music. Currently Billy is touring the country on a Harley Davidson, couch surfing and sharing his passion for music. While on tour he will be embracing new people and experiences to finish his new album “National Anthem.” This EOTM Award double nominee plans to make this album by the people for the people while travelling on the highways of this great nation.
ABOUT BILLY LORD:
Like millions of other Americans, life as Billy Lord knew it came crashing down with the US economy in 2008, when his successful 15 years in the publishing industry came to an abrupt end. With the loss of his career, the dominos just kept falling... Billy lost his marriage, his home, and every penny he had set aside for retirement. Billy worked several odd jobs in New York City trying to make ends meet. Ends never met. In and out of Landlord Tenant court, Lord was forced to give up his apartment and joined the ranks of the city's working homeless and began living out of his guitar case, tucking a change of jeans and two t-shirts behind the neck of his guitar and keeping toiletries in the pouch created to hold sheet music. The guitar had been sitting in a closet, virtually untouched, for more than a dozen years.
One of Billy's odd jobs was unloading trucks at night. With nowhere to go when he got off work at 3am, Billy started writing songs, playing guitar, and singing until the sun would rise. During the day he would play his songs in parks and subways stations throughout the city. At Christmas time of 2011, Billy decided to quit his odd jobs and focus on becoming a successful recording artist. By the time the summer of 2012 rolled around, Billy had recorded his debut album, American Music, filmed his first music video for the song On a Summer Night, become a featured artist on New Rock station Z100, opened for the likes of Uncle Kracker, had his album accepted on Pandora, became a YouTube Rising Star finalist, and had his music played on national syndicated radio. Billy is currently writing his second album, titled “National Anthem”, slated for release in 2013.
